Review:

Light-hearted, sweet and cute. I started reading ‘The Lucky Escape’ expecting a sweet cheesy story, which this book certainly is, but what I didn’t expect was a story in which not everything was perfect, where the main character Annie was left by her fiancé on the day of their wedding and was devastated but how this situation then helped her to turn her life around and to find out who she really was and what she wanted to do. She had the help of her friends and also of a childhood acquaintance. All of the characters in the story are well written and we have a glimpse of their backgrounds which is always nice as it gives the reader the opportunity to see how and why the characters are related and adds depth to their interactions. I also found it very interesting how the author managed to talk about the loss of someone you love in a way that it is realistic and sensitive without being overly melodramatic.

I loved the authors writing as it is easy to follow and beautifully written but I also feel that every time you read a book by Laura Jane you get to know a little bit more about her, it is like she puts her own special signature into all of her stories and shares something about herself.

This is a perfect book to read at any time of the year but especially during the summer as it is the perfect getaway from real life. The story was a little bit predictable as many romance books tend to be but I didn’t mind this as romantic cliché’s are like a warm blanket to snuggle into.

I got my special edition from Waterstones and I love the beautiful yellow sprayed- edges that complement the book perfectly.

Availability: The book is available on all good bookshops.
